The garden in October
October was a mild and frequently sunny month and although we were away at the beginning of the month for 10 days, there was still plenty of colour to enjoy when we returned.
All the photos in this post were taken from 22-29th October - so plenty still going on.
The autumn colours came to the fore as the trees began to shed their leaves.
The crab apple is still going strong. Although the Blackbirds are keen on these, there are usually a few left in the New Year.
Turning leaves and berries everywhere.
In the cutting patch the dahlia's are still producing masses of flowers although the flower-heads are getting smaller as they were not disbudded while we were away.
Cosmos and Asters adding lots of colour.
Verbena Bonariensis just keeps giving - and seeding - lots more potted up for next year.
To finish - back to the autumn colours - which really sum up October for me - Acer "Orange Dream" on the patio - re-potted this year and giving a glow to the area.
